GPark Newark

Newark Growth Point – Land South of Newark

An outline planning application has been submitted for a major development on land south of Newark.

The application includes:

• 3,150 new homes, of different sizes & types & including affordable housing.
• 48 hectares of employment development, including offices, industrial units & warehousing
• A new southern link road
• Two local shopping and service centres
• Two new primary schools, together with crèche and day nurseries
• Public facilities including a sports pavilion, health centre and community building
• A network of green space, including sports pitches and play space, a wetland park and nature conservation areas.

The application has been submitted by Catesby Estates (Residential) Limited. If approved, the outline application will set the framework for more detailed applications on the different parts of the site. Development would take place over the next 15 years.

Potterdyke Redevelopment

Newark town centre has recently benefitted from a £50m investment in the redevelopment of the Potterdyke site, which is the town’s biggest redevelopment in 20 years. The new development features an Adsa supermarket, a new state-of-the-art doctors’ surgery and bus station. Work still to complete includes 13 retail units along with a new pedestrian shopping street and 14 houses.

The redevelopment will add to the existing retail offer in the town; improved health facilities for 17,000 local residents, a new bus station and housing in the town centre.

As well as bringing new and improved public amenities to the town centre it is expected the redevelopment will create up to 800 new jobs.

Brunel Business Park, Newark

Brunel Drive is the largest and most prominent commercial estate in Newark on Trent, sited to the east of the town centre. Offering unique design and build opportunities in the commercial heart of the town, it is well positioned aside the A1 trunk road and A47/A17.  The town has a population of approximately 40,000 and has seen recent expansion.

Bilsthorpe Business Park

Bilsthorpe Business Park, located some 15 miles North of Nottingham, 9 miles East of Mansfield and 12 miles West of Newark was formed following the regeneration of the former Bilsthorpe Colliery which closed in 1995.

The site is owned by UK Coal Mining Ltd and totals 133.35 Hectares (329.5 Acres) of which, some 23.65 Hectares (58.2 Acres) has an outline planning consent for B2 (general industrial) and B8 (storage and warehousing).

An additional 4.86 Hectares (12 Acres) of employment land is allocated in the Newark & Sherwood District Council adopted local plan.

The remaining 103.15 Hectares (254.9 acres) is agricultural land which benefits from a planning permission for a wind farm.

A Phase 1 development of B1/B2/B8 space comprised approximately 4,089 sq.m. (44,000 sq.ft.) providing a range of units from 256 sq.m. (2,756 sq.ft.) up to 2,044 sq.m. (22,000 sq.ft.)

The current rental income from the site is £131,748 with the potential to realise much more from the undeveloped site.

UK Coal Mining Ltd are offering the site For Sale with the benefit of the leases currently in place and offers are invited.

Sherwood Energy Village

Sherwood Energy Village is a business park and urban extension in a former coalfield community in Nottinghamshire. It was originally a community-owned development that was set up in response to the closure of Ollerton colliery in the mid 1990s after six hundred miners lost their jobs when the pit closed.

The village offered land for development to firms and organisations aspiring to build to construction standards body the Building Research Establishment's "very good" environmental assessment rating. The East Midlands Development Agency (Emda) was one of the first organisations to lease land on the site. Nottinghamshire County Council has relocated 200 staff to the village, and has been joined there by leisure firm Center Parcs and businesses dealing with financial services and environmental technology.
